KONY 2012 Sequel – Beyond Famous

The sequel to KONY 2012 was released today at a time that the Invisible Children company, which created the video, has come under attack for the way it deals with finances, “oversimplifying” a major issue, and an incident with the CEO last month that landed him in a mental health institution. With the sequel, they attempt to steer people back away from distractions and to the issue they are trying to create awareness for – the atrocities committed by the LRA against children and families in Uganda and beyond. Invisible Children is trying to get people to contact the leaders of their countries to take action in trying to capture the LRA leader, Joseph Kony, who is said to have murdered thousands of people. Described as a “violent rebel group”, the LRA has escaped punishment while continuing to kill and do mass abductions of children who are trained to kill for them.

The sequel is titled “Kony 2012: Part II – Beyond Famous”. You can view it directly below:

KONY 2012: Part II -- Beyond Famous offers a closer look at the LRA and explores the solutions put forward by leaders of the currently-affected areas of CAR, DRC, and South Sudan, where local communities continue to live under the constant threat of LRA violence. This generation has responded to the call to make Joseph Kony famous. Now we need to dig deeper and turn awareness into informed action. That starts with sharing this film and continues with participating in Cover the Night, the advocacy and awareness event taking place worldwide on April 20th.
