This is an interesting social media film that is killing it on YouTube. Released on June 1, this short film already has more than 4 million views.
We live in a faced paced social media society. Every year I take a trip with about 10 friends from different places and it’s amazing to see how the trip has changed from a decade ago. When we first started, people would sit around the living room and chat about different things. Now everyone has their phone and is surfing social media sites, talking about the latest app, updating their status, etc. This change is society was the focus of a great book I read called Alone Together by Sherry Turkle. It’s very insightful.
The creator of this movie uses the central question of “is everyone else’s life better because they are on Facebook?” for the basis of this film. It shows off the daily reality when compared to the online reality we create for others. It’s very well done (which is why it is so popular right now).
